Completing the Profile: an Overview
When completing your Applicant Profile, you should:
-
Be as specific as possible in your responses to the questions. We are interested in your experiences and what you learned from those experiences that will help you as a teacher.
-
Try to be yourself and let your personality and your enthusiasm for teaching come through.
-
Describe your experiences clearly. Although the persons assessing your profile are knowledgeable about the teaching profession, they do not yet know you.
-
Keep in mind that your communication skills are being evaluated. The way in which you complete your Applicant Profile reveals something about your potential as a teacher.
-
Use full sentences, not point form. Check your spelling and grammar!
-
Do not plagiarise! – Plagiarism is when you copy someone else’s words, concepts or ideas without giving that person credit. Plagiarizing will prevent us from evaluating what you know or understand about teaching and learning, since you are simply duplicating someone else’s words. Plagiarism is grounds for an “Insufficient Evidence” rating, which will disqualify you from further consideration.
Personal Information & Program Selection
This information is necessary to allow us to match your Applicant Profile with your OUAC application. You will need a copy of your OUAC application reference number.
-
The OUAC will notify our Admissions and Awards Office that you have applied to U of T.
-
Next, you will receive an Acknowledgment Letter that includes your assigned U of T Applicant Number, which you need in order to access the Applicant Profile. Note that you may have to wait more than a week after submitting your OUAC application to be assigned a U of T Applicant Number. If you did not receive an Acknowledgement Letter, contact the U of T Admissions and Awards Office. Applicants are encouraged to apply to OUAC well before the application deadline.
-
In your Applicant Profile, you MUST select only those program options that you have applied for via OUAC.
